Green Cards

Learn how to become a permanent resident in the US.

In a nutshell.

A green card is the first big step to citizenship. Green card holders are permanent residents of the United States, which means they can live in the US for as long as they want and can work or study without any additional authorization. It's pretty much like citizenship, except that you can't vote and you may lose status if you break certain rules. Green card holders can even sponsor their family members to apply for a green card of their own! If you have a job or family in the US, you may be eligible to apply.
